The first Ankeny Kiwanis Miracle League baseball season was completed on September 28th with great success.  Over 40 participants played throughout the season and look forward to next spring for another season of baseball and the All-Inclusive Playground.  The Des Moines Register did a great wrap-up story on the season that can be found here.

Ankeny Kiwanis Club is spearheading fundraising efforts to build a Miracle League Field and All-Inclusive Playground in Ankeny.  With more than 3,500 children with special needs between the ages of 5 and 15 living in Polk, Boone, Dallas and Story counties and more than 800 attending Ankeny Community Schools, the demand for accessible play facilities could not be greater.  To find out more about this project and how you can participate check out our brochure or go to

"Operation Underwear" is a community-wide Kiwanis Club of Ankeny initiative, created in response to Ankeny Schools nurses and The Ankeny Klothing Exchange citing an ongoing need for new packages of children's underwear and socks.  Public collection bins are housed at the Kirkendall Public Library and Ankeny Community Education Office (Neveln Resource Center).  In addition to socks and underwear, nurses welcome donations of children's sweatpants in neutral colors.
Donations now being accepted.
